Physical Care
Physical Care includes a medical evaluation of physical problems and complications. The medical and counseling staff members work together to observe, evaluate, and treat the physical needs of the resident.

Psychiatric Services
Psychiatric consultations, including an initial psychiatric evaluation and follow-up visits, are available as a part of treatment. Services in this area include diagnostic evaluation, individual therapy, medication management, and on-call availability. Upon admission to the program, all medications are turned into the admitting staff.

Sexual Health Assessment
Each resident will complete an intensive sexual health assessment. The assessment will result in a sexual dependency inventory, as well as a trauma profile. Confidential HIV testing is available for clients while in the program. Medical assessment and management of sexually transmitted diseases is also available.

Continuing Care
In treatment planning, the residents are evaluated in terms of their long-term care needs and goals. Those, which cannot be accomplished within one to three months of treatment, become goals for the continuing care plan. Goal planning will provide the discharged resident with a significant support system to address the long-term needs of their recovery. Resources for continued treatment are identified within the resident’s home community and referrals are facilitated as appropriate.

Individual Counseling
Individual counseling may be intensive or brief and problem-specific, depending on the needs of the client.

Couples Counseling
Staff members will work with the client and his/her significant other to begin to repair difficulties that have arisen in the relationship due to the client’s addiction. Couples’ counseling is recommended by the treatment team based upon the client’s needs.

Family Education and Therapy
Family education and Family therapy are essential components of the client’s program of recovery. Prospective clients and their families are informed of the expectations of family participation prior to admission to the program. The family component may involve individual family therapy, group family therapy, group family education, and an introduction to the 12 Step based family support. In the event that the family is unable to travel to the Extended Care Unit for the family component, recommendations will be made for the family to access support services, counseling, and education within their home community. Telephone family therapy sessions are encouraged.

Twelve Step Therapy/Participation
While in treatment, clients attend 12 Step meetings of the various fellowships each night of the week. Clients are encouraged to obtain a sponsor soon after discharge.

Bibliotherapy/ Therapeutic reading
A central component of the extended treatment of sexual compulsivity is the assignment of reading materials and written assignments as appropriate to the needs of the client. These assignments are reviewed with the clinical staff members individually and within group settings as deemed appropriate for the enhancement of group members.
